Two questions I am asked on a frequent basis are “What type of blogs are there?” and “What type of blog is right for me?“ I will explain three main blog types and use the perfect metaphor everyone can relate to. This article will better explain the blog types and show you how to approach each. The metaphor I am using compares blog types to relationships; the similarities are striking!
Blog Type 1: Branding Yourself
The first blog type we will discuss is branding yourself. These blogs are increasing in popularity due to an increasing number of people entering the “make money online” industry. Branding-your-self blogs serve as a solid foundation and the perfect starting point for anyone who wants to make money online. The reason is, it’s hard to “mess-up” a blog about yourself. Blog about any and everything, add your own personal touch attract your target audience. When you begin online, you want to establish yourself before jumping head first into a niche. It’s about getting your feet wet, understanding your capabilities and limits.
So where’s the comparison? I compare branding-yourself-blogs to being single. You are learning about yourself and your audience, you can do anything you want without any real consequence.
